GameDay: REDSKINS at Eagles

^^^"Zorn chill bra, those things are endangered"^^^

they said we wouldn't be much, that we couldn't beat Dallas, that we had a rookie coach who had never ever been an OC, led an unproven and clumsy Quarterback, with an offensive system that wasn't compatible with our talent. Talk about overcoming adversity.

At 1:00 today, two teams will play that possess nearly as much contrast and the Cowboys and Redskins did last week. But these two teams differ in comparison not because of their symbolic differences. Quite simply, if you look at the two football teams squaring off today in the City of Brother Love (ha!) you'll see two teams going in very different directions with very different philosophies. The Redskins have displayed more poise and offensive balance in the last three games than they have in probably 20 years. There's a focused fire on this team, and every last player on offense seems to be on the same page. Peep Todd Yoder catching a TD a few weeks back, check James Thrash getting a ballbuster 6 points last week in Dallas. These are role players, guys who were after thoughts under Gibbs, getting minutes, touches, and points. To look at the box score last week and see about 7 or 8 guys having got touches was a fascinating thing. It tells me there's promise and that the future is here. The future of the Eagles does not look as promising.

I told Willey in the summer that this was likely the last year we'll see with Reid and McNabb running the show in Philly. I also said that as a result they'll ball out and might go all the way to the super Bowl out of desperation. But their plans appear to have been sidetracked as of late. Andy Reid doesn't have a single stud receiver, and still doesn't seem to have gotten the memo on balancing out his offense. Desean Jackson looks to be on the rise, but he still makes plenty of mistakes just to remind you that he' a rookie. The obvious x-factor here is Brian Westbrook, but with him not being %100, I think that will only give Reid even more luxury to try to air it out. If last week is any indicator, the Redskins aren't the best team to try and whip the ball around on. I had been extremely critical of our defense against the pass before this year, only to see that they've taken on a new look.

Still, the Eagles have their fists clenched and backs against the wall. Weird to say this, but the Redskins are actually the aggressors in this one. They're coming off a huge win, intent to prove that they are finally deserving of recognition in the NFC East. In the meantime, if the Eagles lose this game, a division L that would leave them at 2-3, they just might be finished for good. It would be nice to be the team that chopped their heads off early. I can't call this one too lopsided though, because if I'm certain of anything it's that this game will be a good old fashioned NFC East brawl.

But in the end, the Skins will prove what we already suspected; that they are legit and here to stay.

Redskins 24-13

Hail.
