Wale and Clipse at UMD for $Free.99

one of the benefits of going to a public school is the usually plentiful co-curricular budget. Whereas here at Wagner I'm currently on a committee looking to get a big name here with an account of about three dollars, schools like West Virginia and Ohio State get a big act just about every month. But don't sleep on the Turtle, who happens to be hosting a killer deal of a show tomorrow night. The bill features DC rapper Wale (wa-lay) and proverbial underdog pair The Clipse. Ya'll already know about Clipse, "Grindin", "When's the Last Time", etc. All signs point to them putting on a lackluster live show. Nonethless, you can't beat the price and it's always a blast to just see rappers in person. But this guy Wale, he's the next one on the map, first one from the District. With his Interscope debut dropping in March, you'll get a chance to see him before he becomes the next Wayne-slash-Kanye-slash-Lupe-slash-anyone else he's been compared to that I may have forgotten. Below are a few clips of some of his best stuff, but if you've got an hour or so, Google "Wale, Mixtape About Nothing." This is the disc that made him a pseudo-star so to speak. Chopping up Seinfeld bits and using them as inspirational cues for each song, Wale gives you 20 tracks for free and not one is lacking in the creativity department. To make it even better, he's playing with a band tomorrow, DC go-go staple UCB. And again, it costs you zilch. If you're at home, if you're our age, and if you like a good time, you're a dummy if you don't go to this show tomorrow. Peep the boy Wale below, then go out and support your hometown hero before he becomes a megastar.
