UMD-EMU Recap

Well, folks, I didn't really go to the UMD vs. Eastern Michigan game for very long, but I was there enough time to write a blog about it. Here goes.

You see, I don't get much sleep during the week. I have classes from 8-3 on MWF's and 9-4 on TUTH's, so any time I can find to sleep in, I do it. Last night, after a family dinner at Franklin's ("which was lovely"-Will Ferrell Old School style), I came home, got online for what felt like 30 minutes but was really three hours, and went to bed without setting my alarm clock. "No way, Jose," I said to myself. "I have the chance to sleep longer than seven hours, so I'm doing it."

Then I woke up at 11:30. Maybe 12, I'm not sure. I got to the game by like 2:30 because I wanted to finish watching Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. Pretty weird flick, I haven't reached a consensus on if I like it or not, though. I got to the gates, and they said they "weren't scanning tickets anymore." I was bummed. That's two less loyalty points for me. Whaaaaatever.

Twenty minutes later, I was back outside the stadium when I saw a guy standing on top of a bench playing a saxophone. This guy was actually really tight. When I walked up to him and asked if I could take his picture for the school paper, he said, "Oh sure!" (the two syllable version, pronounced "shewwrrruhh") He was playing Jump Jive and Whale, and boy could he really whale, much better than the Shitty Beatles.

Then the guy stopped playing for a second and looked into the air. The only thing missing was the cloud above his head with a light bulb in it. He said, "We're about to score I think."

I was like yeah right dude. Then, literally 30 seconds later, the crowd roared and the cannon went off. I was like, "Dude!" Then, because of the Terps' TD, he started playing the fight song. It was quite the moment, I must say.

Thanks to Peter the saxophonist, my trip to the Terps game today was actually pretty awesome. If you're reading this, Peter, you're the man.

Peace guys.
