I'm a Sucker for the 2-Disc Deluxe DVD Release

Cain is too. I don't think we've ever bought a major DVD release that wasn't the 2-Disc version. Usually with big studio blockbusters, the DVD release launches with two versions; a standard disc copy with just one disc featuring the movie, and the 2 disc fancier packaging with two discs for the movie AND special features disc. To me, it's kind of an easy decision to make when you walk into Best Buy and see a lame cover on the same shelf next to a shiny cardboard slip sleeve. Granted the sleep sleeve version usually has a higher price. But if you're really into movies, meaning not just the actual film but the how and the why of the movie, then that extra money is more than worth it. What a good second disc does is provide the visual accompaniment of the stuff you had heard in the interviews. If you're like me, and you're following a huge movie like a Dark Knight or Iron Man, you're probably Youtubing interviews with the actors leading up to the release of the movie. The second disc details everything the actors had described in these interviews, like the hours spent in makeup, the time spent working out to get in character, the building of sets. That is stuff that fascinates me. In just the last 40 minutes I've seen how the Iron Man creators built the suit, how Jeff Bridges shaved his head, and dozens of other crazy details you just take for granted. Watching the special features of a DVD, you come to realize how a movie could cost $100 million dollars. These guys build massive sets for millions of dollars for scenes last two minutes, and as a member of the audience that never even occurs to you. That being said, I've seen a ton of special features bits, but Ironman takes the cake. I'm actually surprised by the amount of accessibility Jon Favreau and Robert Downey granted the film crew. It appears that there was a camera on hand for every single process from the first day of production. If you dug Iron Man, then you must watch this.
